Magnetic knife holders/strips may weaken the strength of your steel

This week, we learned that magnetic knife holders/strips may weaken the strength of your steel due to the impact from placing and removing the knife from the holder/strip. In other words, the strength from the magnetic bond can cause the knife to bend every time you place it on to and off the holder; the steel may be weakened over time due to the tension.

Japanese knives in particular can be affected by this more than others, due to its thinner profile and harder steel.
